
Dr. Nwando Anyaoku
Dr. Nwando Anyaoku, M.D., MPH, MBA, is an experienced pediatrician with more than two decades of experience caring for children and families on both coasts, the Midwest US and internationally. Inspired by her lgbo culture and guided by her long history of championing equity and accessibility in health care, Dr. Anyaoku founded Baby Doula with the goal of creating an innovative platform for new parents that is accessible, informative, cost-effective, and transformative in the telehealth space. Her long history of serving in leadership roles in health care and her passion for equity in care have positioned Baby Doula to be successful, sustainable and scalable venture.
Dr. Anyaoku is a board-certified pediatrician, a healthcare executive, speaker, coach and health-tech entrepreneur. As a physician leader for over two decades, she has navigated and thrived in the complex, ever-changing landscape of the US healthcare system. She deploys her experience to help physicians, especially physicians of color, in corporate and academic medicine thrive and reconnect to the joy of medicine in a workplace that is often unwelcoming and devoid of support.
Currently, she serves as the inaugural Chief Health Equity Officer at Swedish Health Services, the largest nonprofit health provider in the Seattle metropolitan area. In this role, she directs the organization’s programs to measure equity in care delivery and outcomes, improve access for patients from all backgrounds, and promote culturally competent care. In addition, Dr. Anyaoku co-leads Swedish’s Office of Health Equity, Diversity & Inclusion that drives initiatives to dismantle systemic racism, reduce barriers to health care access and improve health equity.
Dr. Anyaoku earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Nigeria in Nsukka, a Master of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, and a Master of Business Administration at the University of Washington. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and Clinical Associate Professor at the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, Washington State University.
